Moon Beam

$1,500.00
Sold

As the earth revolves around the sun, so too do we follow our journeys, one moment at a time. This is one of a series of twelve pieces that reflect on all the moments that make up our lives. The collection was inspired by the practice of sifting glass powders. I’ve always been struck by the organic beauty of the glass powders that fall away from the intended design. Each tap of the sifter creates an image of a single moment in time.

Working on this theme, these pieces were created by sifting many layers of glass, capping and firing them into sheets, and combining them into a collection of moments. While each piece is a mere 8”x8” and easily fits a focal wall or shelf space, they are almost an inch deep and have tremendous visual depth — each piece consumed almost 500 square inches of glass in the making. Following the final firing, each piece went through a lengthy cold-working process to polish the edges. I hope these pieces inspire you to savor all of life’s moments, along with the natural rhythms of earth which give those moments their shape.
